US President Donald Trump on Friday shared a video of a deadly airstrike on Houthi fighters in Yemen, saying the Iran-backed group “will never sink our ships again.”
The black-and-white footage, which looked like drone camera video, showed a crowd of people before a large explosion created a crater and left bodies scattered on the ground.

“These Houthis gathered for instructions on an attack. Oops, there will be no attack by these Houthis!” Trump said in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social. “They will never sink our ships again!”
Late last month, the Houthis said they were behind attacks on the USS Harry S Truman and other US warships in the Red Sea.
Trump said their acts of “piracy, violence, and terrorism” have disrupted trade in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden — both key routes for energy and cargo passing through the Suez Canal.
In response, the US State Department announced new sanctions on people and companies linked to Houthi funding.
These include financial agents, suppliers, and firms involved in a global network that helps fund the group. The move follows earlier sanctions after the Houthis shot down a US Reaper drone in early March.
In the lead-up to the strikes, a communication error accidentally exposed US military plans. Reports say National Security Adviser Mike Waltz mistakenly added journalist Jeffrey Goldberg to a Signal group chat where top officials were discussing the Yemen operation.
Experts also noted that Houthi attacks seem to avoid ships from countries like China and Saudi Arabia, suggesting the strikes are deliberate, not random.
The Houthis, who belong to Yemen’s Zaidi Shia minority, have long received support from Iran. While Iran denies supplying them with weapons, multiple seizures and investigations have linked their arms to Tehran.
