Modi to meet Trump on Feb 13, to travel to US after AI summit in France

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is planning a two-day visit to the United States beginning February 12 to meet with President Donald Trump about a variety of subjects, including trade and defence, according to sources familiar with the matter.

On January 27, Trump talked with Modi about immigration, emphasising the significance of India purchasing more American-made security equipment and maintaining fair bilateral trade ties.

According to the arrangement, Modi would go to Washington DC following his two-day trip to Paris, they added.

Next week, Modi will visit France to co-chair a symposium on artificial intelligence that President Emmanuel Macron is hosting from February 10 to February 11.

Vice President JD Vance is expected to represent the United States at the conference, even though Trump was also invited.

The prime minister is slated to arrive in the American capital on the evening of February 12, and meetings with Trump are anticipated to take place the following day, according to sources.

It would be the prime minister’s first bilateral visit to the United States since Donald Trump took office for a second term on January 20 following his surprise political victory in November.

Modi will be one of just a few foreign leaders to pay a bilateral visit to Washington DC in the weeks after the Trump administration’s inauguration.
