Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (October 7) called Russian President Vladimir Putin to wish him on his 73rd birthday, expressing hopes for his good health and continued success.

During the conversation, the two leaders reviewed the India-Russia bilateral agenda and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

Putin’s upcoming India visit

Modi said he looks forward to welcoming President Putin to India for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit later this year. Putin has confirmed his visit, expected in early December, saying he is “looking forward to meeting my dear friend, our trustworthy partner, PM Modi.”

Talks on Ukraine conflict

Putin also briefed Modi on the latest developments in the Ukraine conflict.

The Prime Minister thanked him for the update and reiterated India’s consistent call for a peaceful resolution.
