The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday (November 7, 2025) said it had no information to share regarding reports that US President Donald Trump may visit India next year.
Responding to questions at the ministry’s weekly briefing, spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “As far as the comments of President Trump regarding his visit to India are concerned, I do not have anything on this to share. I will let you know when I have something to share about it."
The clarification came a day after Trump told reporters at the Oval Office that he could travel to India in 2026, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted him to visit. Praising the Indian leader, Trump called Modi a “great man” and a “friend.”
“He’s (PM Modi) a friend of mine, and we speak… He wants me to go there. We’ll figure that out. I’ll go. I will have a great trip there with Prime Minister Modi, he’s a great man. And I’ll be going,” Trump said.
When asked if the visit could happen next year, Trump replied, “It could be, yeah.”
India is also expected to host the next Quad summit in New Delhi, with leaders from Australia, Japan, and the US likely to attend, though the exact dates are yet to be announced. The previous Quad meeting was held in Wilmington, Delaware, in 2024.
