A man accused of a mass stabbing aboard a high-speed train in Cambridgeshire has been charged with seven further offences, prosecutors in the UK said on Wednesday. Anthony Williams, 32, from Peterborough is now facing a total of 18 charges connected to a series of violent incidents that took place over two days across Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and London, according to reports.
The new charges relate to alleged offences committed on 31 October, a day before the attack on a Doncaster-to-London LNER service. Prosecutors said Williams has been charged with two additional counts of attempted murder involving a 14-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man. He also faces an allegation of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to a 28-year-old man.
Other charges include affray and possession of a knife following an incident at a barbershop in Peterborough, the theft of two knives from a supermarket in Stevenage, and the common assault of a man on a train travelling between Hitchin and Biggleswade.
These come on top of 11 existing charges, including ten counts of attempted murder, after multiple people were stabbed onboard the LNER train on 1 November. A railway staff member who confronted the attacker was critically injured but survived. The train was forced to make an emergency stop at Huntingdon station, where armed officers detained Williams. Police have said there is no indication the attack was terror-related.
Williams is also accused of attempted murder in a separate incident earlier the same day on a Docklands Light Railway train in east London, during which another victim was stabbed.
