At least two people were killed on Monday in Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon, while the speaker of Lebanon’s parliament accused Israel of violating the recent ceasefire agreement 54 times.
According to The Guardian report, citing Lebanon’s health ministry, one fatality took place in Marjayoun town, about 10 km from the UN-drawn blue line separating Lebanon from Israel.
In a separate incident, Lebanon’s state security said an Israeli drone strike killed a member of its force while on duty in Nabatieh, 12 km from the border.
The attack was described as a “flagrant violation” of the ceasefire, added the report.
The Lebanese army said an Israeli drone hit an army bulldozer in northeast Lebanon near the border with Syria, wounding a soldier.
The National News Agency also reported a fresh Israeli incursion inside Lebanon, near the Mays al-Jabal governmental hospital which is close to Tebnin Castle.
According to Reuters, the Israeli military did not immediately respond to questions about the incidents in Marjayoun and Nabatieh.
It issued a statement saying it had attacked military vehicles operating near Hezbollah military infrastructure in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley and military vehicles near the border with Syria.
The Israeli military acknowledged that a Lebanese soldier was wounded in one of its attacks and said the incident was under review, added the report.
“Israel’s actions represent a clear violation of the articles of the ceasefire agreement and they have exceeded 54 violations in Lebanon,” said Lebanon’s speaker of parliament Nabih Berri, who has acted on behalf of Hezbollah during ceasefire negotiations, in a statement on social media.

More ShortsIsraeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar denied that his country had breached the accord, saying the problem lay with Hezbollah moving weapons and crossing south of the Litani river, in defiance of last week’s deal.
“Israel is committed to the successful implementation of the ceasefire, but we will not accept a return to the situation as it stood on October 6, 2023. If violations occur, Israel will enforce (the pact),” Reuters quoted Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar as saying in a statement.
The ceasefire agreement stipulates that by the end of the 60-day period, all Israeli forces should have withdrawn from Lebanon, and Hezbollah must have retreated north of the Litani River, leaving a buffer zone in southern Lebanon where only the Lebanese army and UN peacekeepers are allowed.
Earlier, Israel’s military issued an order preventing Lebanese civilians from returning to dozens of villages in the south. Tens of thousands of people on both sides of the border have been forced to flee their homes due to the ongoing fighting.
