The first phase of voting ended with voter turnout of 60.13 per cent till 5 PM according to the data of the Election Commission. Bihar’s Begusarai recorded the highest voting percentage with 60.31 voter turnout and Vaishali being the lowest at 59.45 per cent. People actively participated in large numbers as they reached to their nearest polling stations.
Voting of the Bihar election first phase began at 7 AM for 121 seats amid tight security arrangements in Bihar, an official said, adding it will continue till 5 pm.
Politicians, including Bihar Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, INDIA bloc’s CM candidate Tejashwi Yadav, VIP chief Mukesh Sahani, and Union ministers Giriraj Singh and Rajiv Ranjan Singh ‘Lalan’ casted their votes in the first few hours of voting.
Begusarai remains the district which recorded the highest polling percentage so far at 30.37, followed by Lakhisarai (30.32) and Gopalganj (30.04).
