Sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s brother, Mark Epstein, on Monday claimed that ‘Epstein Files’ were being scrubbed of Republican names.
The remark has come at a time when both the chambers of Congress have voted to direct the Department of Department to release all files related to its investigation into Epstein. President Donald Trump now needs to sign the bill into law.
Trump has been a close friend of Epstein for decades. In fact, Epstein had recruited one of her most well-known victims, Virginia Giuffre, from Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, which is his primary private residence.
For months, Trump and his allies have been deflecting questions related to the Epstein Files. Some of them went to the extent of downplaying Epstein’s paedophilia by saying that 15-16-year girls involved in his sex crime were not exactly minors. Such deflection led to a belief among people that Trump’s potential implication in Epstein Files could be the reason why he and Congressional Republicans were asking for these documents.
‘They’re sabotaging these files’
Ahead of the release, Mark Epstein —Jeffrey’s brother— on Monday said that Epstein Files were being sabotaged.
“I’ve been recently told, the reason they’re going to be releasing the files and the reason for the flip is that they’re sabotaging these files,” Mark told News Nation.
Mark said that the Trump administration was “scrubbing the files to take Republican names out.”
Mark said, “That’s what I was told by a pretty good source.”
Mark further said that Epstein told him he had compromising information about Trump ahead of the 2016 election. He recalled Epstein as saying that the information would be damning enough to “cancel the election.”

Mark’s remarks have come at a time when Trump’s base has gone into an overdrive to downplay Epstein’s paedophilia.
For example, podcaster Megyn Kelly, one of Trump’s foremost cheerleaders, said that Epstein was not into “15-year-old girls” who were “barely legal” and went on to say that there was a difference between a 5-year-old and a 15-year-old when it came to characterising paedophilia.
“This person has told me from the start, years and years ago, that Jeffrey Epstein, in this person’s view, was not a pedophile,” Kelly stated, adding her unnamed source as saying that Epstein “was into the barely legal type. Like, he liked 15-year-old girls”.
Kelly further said she was laying out “facts” that Epstein “wasn’t into like 8-year-olds but he liked the very young teen types that could pass for even younger than they were but would look legal to a passerby”. She further said that she thought “there is a difference between a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old”.
