Israel’s military on Thursday said that it had in recent days carried out a strike on the Taleghan facility in Tehran, which it described as a site involved in Iran’s efforts to advance its nuclear capabilities.
The military, in a statement, said the attack targeted the Taleghan compound, reported Xinhua.
According to the report, Israel said the facility had been used in recent years to develop advanced explosives and conduct experiments connected to the AMAD project, which it says was a covert Iranian initiative to build nuclear weapons.
The International Atomic Energy Agency said the AMAD project operated from 1989 to 2003, though Israel claims some related activities have continued beyond that period.
Iran has repeatedly denied pursuing nuclear weapons, maintaining that its nuclear programme is intended for peaceful purposes.
There was no immediate response from Tehran regarding the extent of any damage at the Taleghan site.
The Israeli military also released satellite images it said showed the operation, reported Xinhua.
The strike came after a similar attack on March 3 on the Minzadehei compound on the outskirts of Tehran. Israel said that site was used for scientific work on key components related to nuclear weapons.
The latest strike took place as the regional conflict, triggered by a joint US-Israeli attack on Iran, entered its 13th day.
