The Israeli Air Force on Thursday said that its jets killed two Hezbollah commanders in southern Lebanon.
Additionally, Israel said it had eliminated a Hezbollah member in Syria who relayed intelligence against Israel in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
The IDF announced that it carried out strikes on weapons caches in southern Lebanon and Beirut yesterday and overnight.
Israel has escalated its retaliation for the Hamas attack, sending troops into Lebanon and airstrikes into Iran, Yemen and Syria in the hunt for Iran-backed militants, raising fears of a wider West Asia conflict that could draw in Iran and the United States.
Which members have been killed?
A report by the Times of Israel says that the army has identified the two slain terrorists as Ahmad Mustaga Alhaj Ali and Muhammad Ali Hamdan.
Ali was found responsible for launching a missile attack at the Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona while Hamdan was the commander of an anti-tank corps in Meiss Ej Jabal.
US warns Israel
Meanwhile, the US on Thursday urged Israel to ensure another Gaza-like situation does not repeat in Lebanon.
The comments came after a phone call between Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden, their first in seven weeks. The White House said Biden told Netanyahu to “minimise harm” to civilians in Lebanon, particularly in “densely populated areas of Beirut”.
“There should be no kind of military action in Lebanon that looks anything like Gaza and leaves a result anything like Gaza,” said State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.
