❗️My recommendation: our highly prestigious and affordable public universities are a great choice - do check online reviews of private universities.

The ambassador highlighted Germany’s public universities as both prestigious and affordable, recommending prospective students to research private institutions carefully.

The sharp rise in enrolment correlates with growing concerns about student visa denials in the United States.

According to the US State Department, more than 6000 international student visas have been cancelled this year.

Out of the 6000 visas, roughly 4000 were cancelled because the visa holders disobeyed the law, including incidents of assault, driving under the influence, burglary, and so on, the State Department informed the BBC.

Another 200-300 visas were cancelled for “terrorism done under INA 3B,” according to the State Department, referring to a regulation that broadly defines “terrorist activity” as activities that risk human life or violate US law, as reported by the BBC.

Moreover, the US administration is scaling up a sweeping “continuous vetting” programme, reviewing the records of more than 55 million visa holders for potential threats—including social media scrutiny for “anti-American” content or other red flags.
