The number of Indian nationals who have lost their lives in Kuwait has risen to eight, as regional tensions in West Asia continue to escalate.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that an Indian citizen was killed in a recent attack in Kuwait.
Officials stated that one Indian national remains missing, while the total death toll has increased from earlier reports. The development has heightened concerns over the safety of Indians living and working in the region.
Additional Secretary Aseem R. Mahajan expressed condolences to the bereaved family and assured that the Indian mission in Kuwait is coordinating closely with local authorities. Efforts are underway to support the family and ensure the early repatriation of mortal remains.
The MEA noted that the ongoing conflict has affected multiple countries in the region, including Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Earlier, an Indian national was also killed in Riyadh amid the recent wave of attacks.
Despite the challenging conditions, evacuation and travel support efforts are continuing. Since late February, approximately 5.5 lakh passengers have returned to India through special arrangements and limited flight operations. Authorities are also facilitating movement via alternative routes due to airspace restrictions in several countries.
Indian missions across West Asia are working round the clock, operating helplines and providing regular updates to citizens. The government reiterated that the safety and welfare of Indians abroad remain a top priority, calling for restraint and dialogue to prevent further escalation in the region.
