The Pakistan Army crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and opened fire in the KG sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch, violating the ceasefire, Hindustan Times reported, citing army sources.

“On 01 Apr 25, a mine blast occurred in Krishna Ghati Sector due to Pakistan Army intrusion across LC. This was followed by unprovoked firing and ceasefire violation by Pakistan Army. Own troops responded effectively in a controlled and calibrated manner. Situation is under control and being closely monitored,” the official said.

The Army official also emphasised the need to uphold the 2021 agreement between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGsMO) to maintain peace along the LoC.

counter terror ops continues across J&K

The ceasefire violation happened as security forces were already conducting operations in Panjtirthi, Kathua. They had stepped up efforts after an earlier exchange of fire with terrorists. On the night of March 31, suspicious movement was spotted, leading to a joint operation by the Indian Army, J&K Police, and CRPF. A fresh encounter followed in the early hours of April 1.

In response to the encounter, security forces launched a search operation at dawn. Surveillance and ambush teams were set up based on intelligence, and the area remains on high alert. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, Hindustan Times reported.

The Indian Army’s Rising Star Corps confirmed the operation, stating that based on intelligence, multiple surveillance and ambush teams were deployed in Panjtirthi, Kathua. Suspicious movement was detected on the night of March 31, leading to an exchange of fire. A search-and-destroy operation began at first light on April 1 and is still ongoing.
