Moments after IDF confirmed that Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli airstrike, the Israeli army chief Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi said on Saturday that Israel will “reach” anyone who threatens its citizens.
“This is not the end of our toolbox. The message is simple, anyone who threatens the citizens of Israel – we will know how to reach them,” he said in a statement after Israeli Defense Forces broke the news.
IDF on Saturday posted “Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorise the world” on X, putting an end to speculation over the Hezbollah leader’s whereabouts following overnight strikes in Lebanon.
‘Attack was prepared for a long time’
Meanwhile, Halevi said that Nasrallah’s death was a consequence of a premeditated attack by Israel.
“This attack was prepared for a long time, executed at the right moment with great precision, and now we are moving forward with careful preparation for the next steps,” he said.
“Ultimately, I want to emphasise again that we are at full readiness in all of our fronts. All forces, including coordination with other organisations, must ensure very good synchronization and readiness.”

Israel on Friday claimed that it struck Hezbollah HQ in Lebanon, killing Nasrallah and other top commanders of the Iran-backed group. However, Hezbollah said that their leader had not died and was shifted to a safer location.
The Israeli military announced on X that it had given the operation to kill Nasrallah the codename “New Order”.
A source close to Hezbollah told AFP on condition of anonymity that contact with Nasrallah had been lost since Friday evening.
Contact with him was lost for two days and he was rumoured to have been killed during Israel’s last war with Hezbollah in 2006, the source said, adding that he later re-emerged unscathed.
However, there has not been an official confirmation from Hezbollah’s end about its leader’s fate after IDF’s announcement.
