The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Monday that it fired on armed ’terrorists’ who crossed the yellow line near its positions in Shejaiya, Gaza. The military described the intrusion as an immediate threat, prompting its forces to respond with fire to neutralize the danger.
“The forces fired at the terrorists who crossed the yellow line in order to neutralize the threat to the forces,” the IDF said in a post on X, describing multiple attempts to breach the line. The area remains under IDF control just after the ceasefire agreement.
The post further added that “IDF forces under the Southern Command are deployed in the area in accordance with the ceasefire agreement framework and will continue to act to neutralize any immediate threat.”
At least 45 killed in Israeli strikes Sunday
Israel, on Sunday, carried out deadly strikes on Gaza over alleged truce violations by Hamas.
The dozens of strikes Israel carried out on Hamas positions in southern Gaza Sunday came after it accused the militant group of targeting its troops in “a blatant violation” of the nine-day-old truce.
Gaza’s civil defence agency, operating under Hamas authority, reported that the strikes killed at least 45 people across the territory.
Four hospitals in Gaza confirmed the death toll of 45 to AFP, stating that they had received both the dead and the wounded.
Israel’s military said it was investigating the reported casualties.
The army said it had “renewed enforcement of the ceasefire” on Sunday but pledged to “respond firmly to any violation of it”.
Hamas denied the accusations, with one official accusing Israel of fabricating “pretexts” to resume the war.
A security official told AFP that Israel was also suspending the entry of aid into Gaza due to ceasefire violations.
