Netflix's 'Greater Kalesh' Movie Review: Ahsaas Channa's Diwali film is short, sweet and just the way we want it
Netflix’s Greater Kalesh Movie Review

Director: Aditya Chandiok

Language: Hindi

Star cast: Ahsaas Channa, Supriya Raina Shukla and Poojan Chhabra

A simple story with no big stars, Netflix’s Greater Kalesh is heart-warming. Diwali always holds special place in our hearts and Diwali parties are memorable more for the chaos.

There is something romantic and nostalgic about home-coming during the festival season. And no matter what, the best journey always takes you home. The film is a family drama directed by Aditya Chandiok.  You don’t want too much of exhaustion of the brain during the Diwali, you just want a little fun and the film caters to just that need of yours. The simplicity of the story of Netflix’s Greater Kalesh is what makes it a must-watch. The story starts with Twinkle Handa coming home for Diwali and giving her parents a surprise. But in return she herself gets surprised and how? Just from that point the story starts.  Like every family has a secret and so does the Handa family.

A still from Netflix’s Greater Kalesh

We all know how attached we are to our childhood homes and how our hearts literally break into pieces when we realise that house is no more ours when we have to sell it off. Home-coming loses its charm because you get so used to comfort of our childhood homes that you don’t want to comeback to a new city or a new house.  Every corner of your childhood home has a story. It is not just a house, it is an emotion. And that’s exactly what happens with Twinkle Handa and also her brother.

Yet, there are things that you can’t control and have to let go off, as life has to go on and a living has to be made. Greater Kalesh is a feel-good film and most importantly it is short and sweet and no running around the bushes. No complex characters and nothing intense, just a simple story with loads of emotion and some pleasant surprises. And that’s exactly what we need at this time of the year.

When we have so much content on the digital platform and in cinemas that is either too sharp or just too dumb. Greater Kalesh, is just right. So, just watch it and Happy Diwali people!

Rating: 3 and half out of 5
