A simple story with no big stars, Netflix’s Greater Kalesh is heart-warming. Diwali always holds special place in our hearts and Diwali parties are memorable more for the chaos.
There is something romantic and nostalgic about coming back home during the festival season. The film is a family drama directed by Aditya Chandiok. You don’t want too much drama, you just want a little family drama and the simplicity of the story of Netflix’s Greater Kalesh is what makes it a must-watch. The story starts with Twinkle Handa coming home for Diwali and giving her parents a surprise. But in return she herself gets surprised and how and from there the story starts. Like every family has a secret and so does the Handa family.
We all know how attached we are to our childhood homes and how our hearts literally break into pieces when we realise that house is no more ours when we have to sell it off. Home-coming loses its charm because we get so used to comfort of our childhood homes that every corner has a story. It is not just a house, it is an emotion. And that’s exactly what happens with Twinkle Handa and also her brother.
Yet, there are things that we can’t control and have to let go off, as life has to go on and a living has to be made. Greater Kalesh is a real feel-good film and most importantly it is short and sweet and no running around the bushes. No complex characters and nothing intense, just a simple story with loads of emotion. And that’s exactly what we need at this time of the year.
When we have so much content on the digital platform and in cinemas that is either too sharp or just too dumb. Greater Kalesh, is just right. So, just watch it and Happy Diwali people!
