Global reactions are pouring in as the India-Pakistan conflict is reaching the boiling point. On Saturday, the Group of Seven nations, also known as the G7, urged both nations to maintain maximum restraint. Tensions between two nuclear-powered countries have been intensifying following the Pahalgam terror attack.

In the statement, the body of nations urged both India and Pakistan to engage in direct dialogue amid rising hostilities. “Further military escalation poses a serious threat to regional stability. We are deeply concerned for the safety of civilians on both sides,” according to the statement, which was posted on the official website of the government of Canada, a member of the G7.

“We continue to monitor events closely and express our support for a swift and lasting diplomatic resolution," the statement further reads. One of the key aspects of the G7 foreign ministers’ system was that it started with the outright condemnation of the Pahalgam terror attack that led to the death of 26 innocent tourists in Kashmir and sent shockwaves to India.

“We, the G7 Foreign Ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America and the High Representative of the European Union, strongly condemn the egregious terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 and urge maximum restraint from both India and Pakistan,” the statement stated.

Singapore expresses concerns

Meanwhile, Singapore on Friday said that it was “gravely concerned” about the ongoing “military confrontation” between India and Pakistan, urging both parties to calm tensions. The Asian nation also condemned the Pahalgam terror attack.

“Singapore is gravely concerned about the ongoing military confrontation between India and Pakistan following the heinous terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Apr 22,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said in a statement.

“We call on both parties to de-escalate tensions through diplomatic means and ensure the safety of all civilians,” the statement further reads. The country has also advised its citizen to defer all non-essential travel to Jammu and Kashmir in India, and to Pakistan, and urged travellers to exercise caution, particularly in border regions between Pakistan and India.
