Donald Trump slammed special counsel Jack Smith on Tuesday following the release of a report that concluded the president-elect attempted to criminally overturn the 2020 election results.

The Department of Justice’s findings written by Smith, accused Trump of inciting violence during the January 6 riots and knowingly spreading false claims of election fraud.

The report further suggested that had Trump not been re-elected in a landslide victory last year, he would have faced conviction for his actions.

Responding to the allegations, Trump vehemently criticised Smith by calling him a “deranged lamebrain prosecutor” in a fiery post on his social media platform, TruthSocial.

“Deranged Jack Smith… is a lamebrain prosecutor who was unable to get his case tried before the Election, which I won in a landslide,” Trump wrote.

“[He was] was unable to successfully prosecute the Political Opponent of his ‘boss,’ Crooked Joe Biden, so he ends up writing yet another ‘Report”’ based on information that the Unselect Committee of Political Hacks and Thugs ILLEGALLY DESTROYED AND DELETED, because it showed how totally innocent I was, and how completely guilty Nancy Pelosi, and others, were.”

On January 6, the first anniversary of the violent mob attack on the U.S. Capitol for which around 1,580 individuals had been charged with federal crimes related to the riot.

The rioters were filmed assaulting the Capitol while wielding a variety of weapons, including firearms, stun guns, flagpoles, fire extinguishers, bike racks, batons, a metal whip, office furniture, pepper spray, bear spray, a tomahawk axe, a hatchet, a hockey stick, knuckle gloves, a baseball bat, a large Trump billboard, Trump flags, a pitchfork, pieces of lumber, crutches and even an explosive device.

Trump has vowed to pardon an unspecified number of the rioters – around 900 of whom have admitted federal charges from trespassing and vandalism to assaulting police – describing them as “hostages.”
