As Delhi enters weeks blanketing under a thick layer of fog, China has offered assistance to tackle the growing problem with the grey ghost.
Spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in India, Yu Jing took to X saying, “China once struggled with severe smog, too. We stand ready to share our journey toward blue ones — and believe India will get there soon."
China faced similar crisis
A decade ago, China faced the similar problem earlier and today, Beijing breathes clean and fresh air.
In earlier 2013, Beijing declared war on pollution and implemented severe measures. It was a billionaire win on a deadly crisis. A lot was switched and replaced as electric buses replaced diesel fleet and electric cars were introduced.
The use of clean energy helped the state to dramatically switched and reduced the smog levels in cities like Beijing and Shanghai.
The results are unexceptional, life expectancy jumped by 4.6 years. It reduced about three-quarters of the world’s total air pollution.
Deteriorating health of Indians
India is facing the similar situation which China faced once. The statement comes after looking at the deteriorating air quality of Delhi and border areas. The AQI index passed a scale of 400 in various areas, which is seen as severe.
Meteorologists warn about the consequences which poor air can cause and can trigger respiratory illness, throat and eye infection.
Will India learn from China?
Delhi tried to purify its air by various artificial methods, cloud seeding and use of sprinklers to purify the air and reduce the emissions. The problem remained with Deli was the time management. For instance, when Beijing executed the pollution plans, Delhi still debated and only sent notices.
But pollution gains prominence, whenever Diwali arrives the cycle rotates again.
China’s message has been clear and crisp every time, pollution need urgent coordination and swift enforcement of measures.
