The US Embassy in India has issued an advisory for Americans residing in the country. The embassy updated its contact page with phone numbers of the consuls general across India. It advised its citizens to avoid travelling in areas surrounding the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk

Delhi blast: World reacts to Red Fort explosion that killed 8 people, injured over 24

The international community has come together to express grief over those who died in the Red Fort car blast in Delhi on Monday. A Hyundai i20 burst into flames near the Red Fort Metro Station Gate Number 1 at 6:55 pm, gutting several vehicles nearby and killing eight people.

British High Commissioner to India, Lindy Cameron, said, “My thoughts are with all those affected by the explosion near the Red Fort in New Delhi today.” She also posted an advisory for people living in the areas surrounding the Red Fort.

“On behalf of the French People and Government, I extend our deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones in the Red Fort blast. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims, and we wish a full and complete recovery to all those injured,” Thierry Mathou, the French Ambassador to India said.  

The Embassy of Egypt said, “On behalf of the People and Government of the Arab Republic of #Egypt, we extend our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those affected by the #RedFort blast. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved, and we wish all injured a swift and complete recovery."

The blast in the national capital has put most parts of India on high alert, with police ramping up inspection of cars leaving and entering big cities. The incident is being investigated by multiple agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and National Security Guard (NSG).
