Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has condemned the US bombing of the country’s three nuclear sites, calling it a “criminal behaviour”.
Araghchi, in his first response since the American military operation, said the move will have “everlasting consequences”.
He called the US attacks “outrageous” and warned Iran reserved “all options” to defend its sovereignty.'
“The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences. Each and every member of the UN must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behavior,” Iranian Foreign Minister said in a post.
Urging global attention, he stated that all UN members should be alarmed by Washington’s “dangerous and lawless” actions. Referencing UN Charter provisions, Araghchi stressed that Iran reserves all options to exercise its right to self-defence.
“In accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing a legitimate response in self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people,” the post added.
This comes after the US carried out much-anticipated strikes on three nuclear sites in Iran.
Trump announced the strikes on three Iranian enrichment facilities — Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan — and said that a “full payload of BOMBS was dropped” on Fordow.
“All planes are safely on their way home,” Trump added in his post. “Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!”
