The Canadian Parliament observed a moment of silence in memory of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar who was killed a year ago.

Greg Fergus, Speaker of the House of Commons, called on members of the parliament to hold a moment of silence, as agreed by the house to pay their respect to Nijjar.

Nijjar, the chief of Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) was killed by shooters outside British Columbia’s Gurudwara in Surrey on June 18, 2023. Four Indian nationals –  Karan Brar, Amandeep Singh, Kamalpreet Singh, and Karanpreet Singh – have been accused of carrying out Nijjar’s assassination.

The Khalistani leader is added to the list of “designated terrorists” by the Indian government along with 40 other individuals.

Nijjar’s death has put a spotlight on India-Canada relations with the former accusing the latter harbouring Khalistani terrorists while Ottawa has blamed New Delhi for killing its citizens on Canadian soil.
