Another temple was attacked in Canada, this time in Brampton where a group of devotees of the Hindu Sabha Mandir was targetted by alleged Khalistani extremists on Sunday.
Several videos of the latest crime against Hindus in Canada went viral on social media. One of the clips, shared by the Hindu Canadian Foundation - a non-profit organisation working for the Hindu community in Canada - showed a group of men wielding sticks, and some with flags associated with pro-Khalistani groups, attacking devotees outside the temple.
The Hindu Canadian Foundation said children and women were also attacked in the incident. “This is all happening under the support of Khalistaani politician sympathisers,” it said.

Hindu temple in Canada’s Brampton attacked by Khalistanis
A group of devotees at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton was targeted by alleged Khalistani supporters on Sunday, sparking outrage.
As per reports, the Khalistani supporters were holding a demonstration to commemorate the 1984 anti-Sikh riots before the attack took place.
Tensions escalated in the area soon after the attack, prompting the Canadian police to deploy a large number of personnel.
Canadian Police was aware of the protest
In a post on X, Peel Regional Police said: “Peel Regional Police is aware of the protests taking place in North East Brampton area. While we respect the individual right to protest as per the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms… We have currently increased and visible presence to monitor and respond to any unlawful activities.”
“Any acts of violence, threats of violence or vandalism will be investigated,” they said.

Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah also said that those who engage in such activities will be pursued, arrested, and charged.
‘Red line crossed by Khalistani extremists’: Canadian lawmakers condemn violence
Soon after the attack on the Hindu temple, Canadian MP of Indian origin, Chandra Arya, condemned the attack and said that Khalistani extremists had “crossed a red line”.
“A red line has been crossed by Canadian Khalistani extremists today. The attack by Khalistanis on the Hindu-Canadian devotees inside the premises of the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton shows how deep and brazen has Khalistani violent extremism has become in Canada,” he said.
“I begin to feel that there is a small grain of truth in the reports that in addition to Canadian political apparatus, Khalistanis have effectively infiltrated into our law enforcement agencies. No wonder that under the ‘freedom of expression’ Khalistani extremists are getting a free pass in Canada,” Chandra Arya added.
Brampton Mayor, Patrick Brown also expressed disappointment over hearing about the “acts of violence” outside the Hindu temple and demanded that those found guilty should be punished to the greatest extent of the law.
“Religious freedom is a foundational value in Canada. Everyone should feel safe in their place of worship. I strongly condemn any acts of violence outside a place of worship,” he said in a post on X.

“Completely unacceptable,” said Canadian opposition leader Pierre Poilievre, condemning the attack on the Hindu Sabha temple.
Poilievre further said that Conservatives condemn the attack and promised to unite the people and end the chaos.
“Completely unacceptable to see violence targeting worshippers at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton today. All Canadians should be free to practice their faith in peace. Conservatives condemn this violence unequivocally. I will unite our people and end the chaos,” he said in a post on X.

Toronto MP Kevin Vuong also condemned the attack and said that “Canada has become a safe harbour for radicals” and asserted that the leaders of the country have failed to protect Hindus just like they failed to safeguard Christians and Jewish Canadians.
“Alarming to see an attack on Hindu Canadians. From Khalistani extremists to terrorist cosplayers, Canada has become a safe harbour for radicals. Our leaders are failing to safeguard Hindus as they have Christians and Jewish Canadians from violence. We all deserve to worship in peace,” Vuong said.
