A week after the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort that killed 13 people, an undated, self-recorded video of the bomber, Dr Umar Mohammad, alias Umar-un-Nabi, has surfaced. The clip offers the first insight into his mindset, showing him speaking at length about suicide bombing and “martyrdom”.
“One of the very misunderstood concepts is the concept of what has been labelled as suicide bombing. It is a martyrdom operation... known in Islam. Now, there are multiple contradictions; there are multiple arguments that have been brought against it,” he says in the recording.
He goes on to explain that a “martyrdom” operation involves a person assuming they will die at a particular place and time. Umar also remarks that no one can truly know the moment or location of their death, insisting it will occur only if destined. He concludes with the message: “Don’t fear death.”
Breaking news live updates: Agencies probing Delhi blast conduct searches at Al Falah University
Breaking news live updates: The Enforcement Directorate launched a probe at Al-Falah University and multiple linked entities amid widening scrutiny in the Delhi blast probe.
The Enforcement Directorate launched a probe on Al-Falah University in Faridabad, its Okhla office, and the university’s promoters on Tuesday morning. Early findings point to irregularities related to UGC and NAAC recognition.
The agency has been searching 25 locations across Delhi since 5 am as part of the ongoing probe into the Delhi car blast. Nine shell companies tied to the group, all registered at the same address, are also under investigation.
Preliminary checks show signs of shell operations, including nonexistent office space, shared contact details across companies, missing EPFO and ESIC filings, overlapping directors with weak KYC records, minimal salary payments through banks, and coordinated company registrations using identical information.
