Amid rising tensions with India, Pakistan has issued a notification announcing it will conduct a surface-to-surface missile test off the Karachi coast on Wednesday.
Earlier, the Pakistani military held firing drills at Tilla Range, which experts see as a show of strength. While Pakistan denies any role in the attack, global pressure is growing on Islamabad.
Indian defence agencies are keeping a close watch on the situation, especially given the current security concerns, defence sources told ANI.
This comes after India on Wednesday (23 April) announced several tough steps against Pakistan following a terrorist attack in the picturesque Baisaran meadow near Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which killed 26 innocent people, mostly tourists.
At least five terrorists, including three from Pakistan, are believed to have opened fire on tourists in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley on Tuesday, according to sources cited by The Indian Express. The two local terrorists were also trained in Pakistan in 2018, returned to the valley in 2021, and carried out the attack.
Indian security forces have initiated a large-scale manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators.
The terrorists targeted the victims based on their religion and killed those who were unable to recite Islamic verses, marking one of the deadliest civilian attacks in the region in recent years.

In a strong response, India has summoned Pakistan’s top diplomat and expelled its military diplomats by declaring them persona non grata. Other key steps include suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, shutting the Attari border crossing, and cancelling SAARC visa exemptions for Pakistani nationals.
India has called in Pakistan’s top diplomat in New Delhi, Saad Ahmad Warraich, and handed him an official notice declaring Pakistan’s military diplomats as persona non grata, meaning they have been expelled.
Misri said India is suspending the Indus Waters Treaty until Pakistan clearly and permanently stops supporting cross-border terrorism.
Though, as usual, Islamabad has denied any role in the attack, just as it did after multiple terror attacks on Indian soil such as Pulwama and Uri, this time, Pakistani authorities have again denied involvement and stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will lead a national security meeting on Thursday to decide on a response.
