The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in India announced an innovative tourist campaign “Journey to Explore Oman”. The project was unveiled at a ceremony which was hosted by H.E. Issa Saleh Shaibani, Oman’s Ambassador to India, earlier this week. According to a statement released by the Oman embassy and obtained by Firstpost, the initiative is being organised in collaboration with IBEX Expeditions from India and the Bait Al Qanoon Foundation from Oman and will be implemented from 10-18 January 2025.
The launch event conducted by the embassy on September 21 was attended by over 100 dignitaries from India and overseas as well as influencers and keen travellers who have experienced Ibex Expeditions curated journeys in and around the world. Through this initiative, the country is seeking to host travellers and open doors for more tourism exchanges between India and Oman.
The embassy believes that initiatives like these would facilitate cooperation between India and Oman in areas of business and trade.
‘We are a place where history whispers through ancient forts’: Oman’s envoy to India
While delivering his address at the ceremony, Oman’s Ambassador to India Issa Saleh Abdullah Saleh Alshibani shared that the initiative will be part of Oman Vision 2024. During the event, Saleh extended gratitude to Aseem Mahajan, Joint Secretary Gulf at the Ministry of External Affairs for his support in strengthening India-Oman ties.
“Oman, as many of you know, is striving to continue along the path of development and progress as outlined by Oman Vision 2040. Central to this vision is the pursuit of a diversified economy, with sectors such as tourism playing a key role in supporting development, creating opportunities for Omani youth, and preserving both our environment and national identity. This evening is a reflection of that vision—a blend of adventure, culture, and collaboration, showing how Oman continues to open its doors to the world," the ambassador said at the event.

We are not just a destination but a place where history whispers through the ancient forts, where the warm desert sands and towering mountains tell stories of generations past, and where the embrace of our culture and hospitality welcomes you like family,” he added.
The ambassador emphasised that India and Oman share “deep cultural connections that resonate through history and continue to grow today.”
“In Oman, you won’t just find adventure; you’ll find connection. Whether through exploring our breathtaking landscapes or sharing a meal with a local family, every experience will bring you closer to the heart of our people. So, I encourage each of you to visit, explore, and discover the beauty, not only of Oman’s nature but of its soul. I promise you that once you do, you will feel at home,” he concluded.
According to the embassy, the tourism campaign will be curated by “Ibex Expeditions, taking in experiences of Muscat, the souqs, Nizwa, Jebel Akhder Mountain walk, the exciting via ferrata and hot air ballooning, quad biking, camel riding and dune bashing, not to mention the interaction with the Bedouin in the Wahiba Sands, snorkelling and walking through the wadis, visiting turtle nesting sites, to mention a few of the highlights.”
