5.3-magnitude earthquake jolts Pakistan's Islamabad, tremors felt in J&K

A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck near Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, around 1 PM on Saturday, the National Center for Seismology reported. The quake occurred at a depth of 10 km and was felt strongly in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

A 5.3-magnitude earthquake has hit near Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, around 1 PM on Saturday, according to the National Center for Seismology.

The quake was 10 km deep, and strong tremors were also felt in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Local media said there were no reports of damage or injuries in Pakistan’s capital after the earthquake. More information is expected.

Earlier in the day, two mild earthquakes were also reported in the region — a 4.2-magnitude quake in Tajikistan at 12:24 PM IST and a 3.3-magnitude tremor in Pakistan at 11:55 AM IST.
