Authorities in Texas have confirmed that a 21-year-old man shot and killed three of his co-workers before taking his own life at a landscape supply company in San Antonio. The incident occurred on Saturday morning at the firm located on the city’s north side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
Two men and a woman were among those killed in the attack, which began around 8 am. As gunfire broke out, several employees fled the scene, local broadcaster KSAT-TV reported.
Police officers quickly responded, securing the area and beginning a search for the suspect. Hours later, they discovered the gunman dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was identified as Jose Hernandez Galo.
Investigation underway into motive
Police Chief William McManus stated at a Saturday news conference that the attack was not random, although the motive has yet to be determined. Detectives continued their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting as authorities worked to piece together events leading up to the tragedy.
