The Indian Army will host a three-day-long United Nations Troop Contributing Countries’ (UNTCC) Chiefs Conclave in New Delhi on Tuesday, which will see the participation of 30 countries that are key contributors to United Nations peacekeeping operations.

Here are 10 things to know about the Conclave:

  • India is hosting this Conclave to bring together global stakeholders in a high-level forum aimed at exchanging best practices, strengthening mutual understanding, and forging a collective roadmap for the future of peacekeeping operations

  • The Conclave aims to strengthen peacekeeping cooperation, leveraging indigenous technology and Atmanirbhar innovations and demonstrate India as a collaborative and trusted partner

  • Representatives from  Algeria, Armenia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, Burundi, Cambodia, Cote D’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Fiji, France, Ghana, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mongolia, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uganda, Uruguay, Vietnam, Rwanda and Senegal are expected to attend the event

  • The Conclave, spanning three days, will cover plenary sessions and discussions on the effectiveness of UN peacekeeping

  • Discussions will be held on how to leverage technology for more responsive and effective peacekeeping

  • Special spouse programmes will also be held during the event to build military resilience through family engagement

  • Through the Conclave, India hopes to promote bilateral engagements, forge a nuanced and shared understanding and strengthen the consultative process and greater collaboration in peace-keeping
