At least one person died and over 100, including several children, were injured in the past 24 hours after Russia unleashed a fresh wave of attack in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Air Force on Tuesday said that Russian forces launched 139 attack and decoy drones against Ukraine, including an Iskander-M ballistic missile. Kyiv’s forces shot down 78 drones while 34 decoys disappeared from the radar but did not cause any damage.

Yesterday, Russia opened a barrage of missile attacks in the northeastern city of Sumy hours after Moscow and Washington began ceasefire talks in Saudi Arabia.

Damage and devastation

As many as 110 people, including 23 children, were injured in the Russian attacks with most of them getting treated in hospitals, the city council said. Twenty-six buildings under the attack included schools, a kindergarten, a hospital, and 16 residential buildings.

Russian attacks injured multiple civilians across Ukraine. In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, a 36-year-old man was wounded in the Synelnykove district, while a 40-year-old man was injured in the Nikopol district, according to Governor Serhii Lysak.

Russia-US talks

A Russian negotiator said on Tuesday that Moscow would continue “useful” talks with the United States over the Ukraine conflict and would aim to involve the UN and other countries.

“We talked about everything, it was an intense dialogue, not easy, but very useful for us and the Americans,” Grigory Karasin, told the state TASS news agency, adding that “lots of problems were discussed”.

“We will continue doing it, adding in the international community, above all the United Nations and certain countries,” Karasin said.
