The social platform X was accessible for Venezuelans once again on Tuesday, after being blocked for years by deposed President Nicolas Maduro, who was captured by the US forces last week during the US intervention in Venezuela.
Interim President Delcy Rodriguez who served as Vice President under Maduro updated her bio and wrote, “Let us stay united, moving toward economic stability, social justice, and the welfare state we deserve to aspire to.”
After the July 2024 election, Maduro was declared as the President of Venezuela amid allegations of fraud, drug trafficking and suspended the platform in August.
The relations between the billionaire and Elon Musk, who own the social media platform and ousted Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro were a bit spooky and led to the heather exchange of both. Maduro lashed out in retaliation for criticism of his contested 2024 election and shut X down.
Prior to that, X had been a prominent social media network for Venezuelans, but the blockade meant ministers, lawmakers and government institutions stopped updating their pages.
Rodriguez assumed power after Maduro was captured by US military forces on January 3 along with his wife, and US attack on Venezuela which killed more than 100, according to the official figures.
Maduro and his wife face US charges of alleged drug trafficking, and repeatedly being accused of illegal drug boats across different nations by US President Donald Trump.
