SHARP Business Systems (India) has made a key move by acquiring the display business of NEC India. This step aims to expand SHARP’s presence in the highly competitive display technology market. With a broader range of offerings, SHARP is now better equipped to support sectors like retail, education, healthcare, and aviation.

The acquisition is expected to help SHARP address the growing demand for innovative, high-performance display solutions in industries that require round-the-clock operations, such as manufacturing and control centres. By combining NEC’s expertise with its own, SHARP is positioning itself to play a larger role in India’s digital growth and transformation.

Expanded product line to meet industry needs

SHARP already has a strong presence in the smart business solutions segment, with products like multifunctional printers, interactive whiteboards, and laptops. Now, with NEC’s display solutions added to the mix, SHARP’s portfolio will include large-format displays, video walls, projectors, and cinema screens. This integration aims to deliver an end-to-end solution for industries requiring advanced visual technologies.

Osamu Narita, Managing Director of SHARP Business Systems (India), stated that this acquisition opens up new opportunities to innovate and customise products for diverse industries. “Acquiring NEC Display Business in India propels us into an exciting era of innovation,” he remarked.

Focus on growth beyond major cities

SHARP has plans to extend its reach into tier-2 and tier-3 cities, aligning with India’s smart city projects and digital transformation initiatives. The company intends to roll out cost-effective and energy-efficient display technologies designed to meet the needs of these expanding markets. Puneet Malhan, General Manager of SHARP’s Display Business, highlighted the growth potential across both urban and emerging areas, adding that the partnership would allow them to provide greater value to customers.

“This strategic acquisition empowers us to offer a more dynamic and diverse product portfolio,” Malhan explained. He further emphasised SHARP’s commitment to driving growth while catering to new regions with innovative solutions.

Disrupting India’s display market

As part of its strategy, SHARP aims to become one of the top five players in India’s display solutions market. The company plans to invest in strengthening its channel network and training its partners to ensure better service and product availability.

The acquisition not only enhances SHARP’s market presence but also supports India’s broader push towards digital transformation and sustainability. With its expanded capabilities and commitment to innovation, SHARP is well-positioned to meet the country’s evolving visual technology needs, helping shape a future of smarter, more connected industries.
