Perplexity AI has been hit with a proposed class-action lawsuit in the United States, accusing the company of covertly sharing users’ personal data with tech giants Meta and Google without proper consent.
According to a report by Bloomberg, the complaint was filed on Tuesday in a federal court in San Francisco. It alleges that the AI search platform deployed hidden tracking mechanisms that allowed third parties to access sensitive user interactions, potentially breaching California privacy laws.

The lawsuit claims that as soon as users access Perplexity’s homepage, tracking tools are automatically installed on their devices. These trackers allegedly enable Meta and Google to monitor conversations between users and the AI-powered search engine.
