Xiaomi has launched a new variant of its Redmi 5A smartphone. It's called the Redmi 5A Rose Gold edition, is priced at Rs 4,999 and will go on sale for the first time today on Flipkart and Xiaomi's own mi.com at 12 pm.
Xiaomi had launched the Redmi 5A was launched back in November, 2017 and was available in only in the Dark Grey and Gold finishes at a base price of Rs 4,999 (for the first 5 million, with the smartphone being priced at Rs 5,999 after the milestone). We reviewed the gold variant of the 5A with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage. Back then Xiaomi also announced a second variant with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage, priced at Rs 6,999.
Today, Xiaomi is all geared up to introduce another new finish in the form of the Rose Gold edition. The specifications remain the same and so does the base price at Rs 4,999.
What's new apart from the new variant are the offers.
Purchasing the smartphone from Flipkart using an Axis Bank Buzz card will get an additional 5 percent discount. Buying the smartphone from mi.com also gets customers a Mi Protect plan for Rs 499.
If you own a Reliance Jio SIM card, you can get a cashback of up to Rs 1,000 after 13 consecutive successful recharges of Rs 198. Buyers will have to be existing Jio customers to avail the offer.
As for the smartphone itself, it offers a plastic construction with a 5-inch HD display. Inside, sits a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core SoC paired with 2 GB+ 16 GB and 3GB + 32 GB RAM and storage options.
There's a 13 MP camera on the back, and a 5 MP camera on the front for selfies.
The device runs Android 7.1.2 out of the box with MIUI V9 skinning with added customisation and feature options.
