Twitter is partially back up after a global outage that lasted for over an hour

As per a statement by Twitter, the interruption was due to an internal configuration change.

Last week when Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were down, Twitter was briefly hit too, affecting users worldwide. A week later, Twitter was again hit by some glitch and was facing an outage for over an hour last night (11 July). Twitter was inaccessible to both via mobile app and the website.

Twitter Inc said on Thursday its microblogging platform was back up partially after suffering a worldwide outage for more than an hour.

Twitter is down.

"We were down ... and now slowly coming back up. Sorry!," Chief Executive Officer Jack Dorsey said in a tweet.

The interruption was due to an internal system change, the company said, adding that it was working to fully fix the problem.

Outage tracking website Downdetector.com earlier showed that there were nearly 70, 000 people across the globe reporting issues with Twitter.

Shares of the company were marginally down in extended trading.

During this outage, if you were logged into your account from the web, refreshing the page threw a message saying “Something went wrong”. Although the login page still loaded, signing in lead to the above image to show saying “Something is technically wrong”. From the app, tweets failed to load and every account displayed the Follower and Following count as ‘-1’.
