Spotify's reportedly leaked T&C agreement all but confirms 31 January launch in India

Music streaming giant Spotify had confirmed earlier in 2018 that it would be heading to India pretty soon. If a recent report is to be believed then Spotify could be in Indian markets as soon as **31 January** and now a Tweet has more or less confirmed it. [caption id=“attachment_4938771” align=“alignnone” width=“1280”]Representational Image Representational Image[/caption] A Variety report had already stated a week back that end of January could possibly be the release date of Spotify in India after the Swedish company had signed a deal with Indian record label T-series. Conforming to the report, a Twitter user has now reportedly leaked Spotify’s T&C agreement which is to take effect from January 31 and it mentioned India as one of the several countries.

However, Spotify is still to finalise deals with other major record labels in India such as Sony, Universal, and Warner. In any case the Indian audience will have access to the vast library of music that Spotify already has. While there has been  **no presence**  of Spotify, in India, the collaboration with T-Series is a step towards its official entry into the country. In March last year, co-founder and CEO of Spotify, Daniel Ek, had confirmed that Spotify will come to India. “We are working on launching in some of the biggest markets in the world, including India, Russia and Africa which has a very rich musical culture,”  **he said** . Spotify had also  **leased**  land in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai and hired 300 people to set up an office in India.
