Sony has unveiled a new product with the PlayStation label, dubbed the PlayStation Vita TV. The system uses the same hardware and software of the PlayStation Vita and can be hooked up to the TV. This lets users play their Vita games on a TV without having to plug it into a PlayStation 3 or 4.

With a size of 6.5 x 10.5 cm, Sony boasts that the PS Vita TV is the smallest device bearing the PlayStation moniker that can connect to a TV. It also allows access to high quality video services such as Tsutaya TV, niconico and Hulu. Along with this, users will have access to the more than 1,300-strong PS Vita game library along with all the perks that come with a PlayStation Vita subscription.

The PS Vita TV seems to be an inexpensive alternative to the Vita

The PS Vita TV will be hitting Japanese markets first on November 14 with a price tag of 9,954 Yen, which roughly translates to Rs 6,521. There will also be a PS Vita TV Value Pack, which will be bundled with a DualShock 3 controller, an 8GB memory card. The value pack will hit stores on the same day with a price tag of 14,994 Yen (Rs 9,823 approx).

It has many of the same features as the PlayStation Vita, which includes access to PSP and original PlayStation games. Coupled with the PS Vita line-up, this includes games like God Eater 2, Soul Sacrifice Delta and classics such as Patapon, Final Fantasy 7 and Metal Gear Solid. It will also have remote play functionality with the PlayStation 4 when it hits stores, which means that users can play PS4 games without switching on the console.

The PS Vita TV will be getting software updates over-the-air, so Sony will keep adding features to it and will maintain parity between the platform and the PS Vita.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
