LG V30 render leaks; features rounded metal and glass design with 18:9 ratio display

We just two weeks away from the official launch of the LG's newest flagship, one that will make up for the shortcomings of its currently available LG G6 smartphone. LG is all geared up to reveal its all new LG V30 flagship smartphone at a pre-IFA event to be held on 21 August. After all those leaked photographs, specifications, and rumours, there is now finally the first press render of the smartphone that has surfaced online.

After all these years of producing great quality smartphones, LG sure seems to have nailed it this time around.

We have a smartphone that seems to be the evolution of the LG G6 in terms of design. The new design philosophy now makes way for a rounded look that is very similar to Samsung's Galaxy S8 smartphones. But the V30 comes with a few twists that make it look different from the latter.

Starting with the front, there's the 18:9 ratio FullVision display. This time around, it does appear to stretch from edge to edge, showcasing some ultra-thin bezels on the sides and minimal bezel at the top and bottom. The glass screen on the front is rounded and curved and smartphone appears wider overall. One detail to note here is that the display (not the screen) does not bend into the edges like on the Galaxy S8.

The rear panel too is made of rounded and 3D curved glass. The camera like on the G6 protrudes very lightly from the rest of the surface, with laser AF system and the LED flash sitting on its right and the power button with the embedded fingerprint reader sitting below it.

The volume control buttons sit on the right, while the SIM card slot sits on the left side. Both have been carved out of what appears to be a polished steel frame. We think steel over aluminium because this is the V series.

It is indeed the V30 seems like the evolution of the G series more than the tough and military grade V series of devices. Branded as the V30, we can expect LG to make the smartphone as tough as its predecessors. If that turns out to be the case, owners will have to worry little about dropping this glass beauty, unlike the Samsung Galaxy S8's screens which are known to shatter easily.

The LG V30 is expected to arrive in a standard 5.7-inch model and a 6-inch Plus model as well. Expect the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset inside along the usual 4 GB RAM and 64 and 128 GB internal storage options.

Other leaks also point to the presence of the world's first smartphone camera with an f/1.6 aperture lens that should offer brighter photos in low light scenarios. The V30's user interface is expected to be powered by LG UX 6.0+, which has reportedly been optmised to take advantage of the 18:9 ratio display.
