Latest Man of Steel game trailer draws ire from fans

Your long cherished dream of being the “Man of Steel” is set to come true as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WB) is all set to launch a brand new Superman video game. The company revealed the official game trailer for its upcoming Man of Steel mobile game, which will be available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, as well as Android smartphones and tablets later this month.

The title based on DC Comics’ iconic character Superman is inspired by the summer release, Man of Steel, a film by WB and Legendary Pictures. This game would provide an opportunity for the Superman fanatics to battle General Zod on the ground or in the air in this mobile adventure.

But, it looks like dated graphics and movie-tie-in stigma highlighted in the trailer have already turned down many fans. This after many gamers expressed their disinterest in the game on various social networking platforms like Twitter and Facebook.

While some have compared the game’s art to the 1996 game Super Mario 64, saying in a YouTube comment, “Come on WB you can do it much better! The new iOS devices are so powerful. Just like Kal-EL. Please use their whole power!”, others complain that the game will be a waste of money and phone memory.

However, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is backing the title as it believes that this is a great move by the studio for the franchise’s fans. “The Man of Steel game allows Superman fans to extend the movie experience and game on-the-go with their favourite characters from the Man of Steel film,” Greg Ballard, senior vice president of WB’s mobile, social and emerging platforms, said in a statement. “Phosphor Games delivered an addictive brawler that lets players feel the power of being a super hero.”

The game is developed on what WB calls the console-quality cinematic sequences. This will drop players directly into Smallville, the Kent Farm and other familiar settings. Gamers can share their scores with friends to determine who really the ultimate Man of Steel is.

The game will be available on June 14 for $2.99 (Rs 175 Approx) in the Apple iTunes Store; an iPad-compatible HD version will cost $4.99 (Rs 290 Approx).
