After the recent release of Grand Theft Auto 5’s first gameplay trailer, Rockstar Games had left a few questions unanswered. GTA5’s Lead Mission Designer Imran Sarwar has answered some of these questions in a Q&A with GameInformer . The biggest new reveal is the astounding level of customisation options for vehicles which was shown off in the gameplay trailer. According to Sarwar, there will be thousands of customisation options for cars and bikes.

The vehicle customisation, which Rockstar first toyed with in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, will be more deeply integrated into GTA5’s missions structure and open world. As Sarwar describes it: “rather than it simply being an additional option for players to experiment with, we wanted to expand it and integrate it more deeply into the game so that it would seamlessly slot in with everything else that the player can do in the world.”

“In addition to the many cosmetic customization alterations such as body kits, paint jobs/finishes, wheels, exhaust tips, window tints, tire smoke color, bull-bars, extra lights, and lots of other extra accessories, we have modifications that will affect gameplay and vehicle performance,” says Sarwar. There will also be performance upgrades for cars, such as brakes, engine tuning, suspension, horns, bulletproof tires and panel armour.

Even weapons will be customisable. Players will be able to walk into Ammu-Nation and start adding new modules to their weapons, such as grips to improve accuracy, extended clips that allow more ammo to be fired between reloads, weapon tints to colour guns, flashlights, scopes and even suppressors. “Attachments such as suppressors allow the player to adapt their approach to some missions and take a stealth option,” says Sarwar.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is hitting stores this September and will be available on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. There is still no word of a PC version so far, but if precedent is anything to go by, there will be a port to the PC released at a later date.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
