Gears of War: Judgment gets new multiplayer trailer

Micrososft has released a new trailer for one Gears of War: Judgment. The trailer has Baird explaining the multiplayer in for the upcoming Gears of War game. The first reveal is that Team Deathmatch will be returning, as it is a fan favourite.

The rest of the trailer shows what’s new in the game, like the new frag grenade that stick to enemies. There are also beacon grenades that let you see through walls. Another new grenade is the stim grenade that heals allies. There are also new weapons added to your arsenal. One of these is a medium range sniper rifle.

Next, we move up to the game modes. One of the new game modes will be Free For All. As the name may imply, this is where there are no teams and alliances. Everyone is on their own and everyone wants to kill everyone. Next up is Domination where two teams battle it out for capture points around the maps. The team that controls capture points the longest wins. There is a 4-player co-op game mode dubbed Overrun, where players play different roles such as the Engineer and the Medic.

It also looks like there will be a new level of verticality in the Gears of War: Judgment multiplayer. Maps will have multiple levels where death can fall from above, or drop you below.

Like other multiplayer games, Gears will also feature a leveling and loadout system that will allow you to deck out your character with whatever guns and perks you may like.

Gears of War: Judgment is set to be the prequel to the trilogy. Judgment is set to take place fifteen years before the events of the Gears of War and will focus on Damon Baird’s time as a lieutenant in Kilo Squad with Augustus Cole and others under his command. The game will explore the events that took place early during the Locust war, when the squad is accused for treason for stealing experimental COG technology while on a mission.

For a change, instead of Epic Games, the developer for Judgment will be People Can Fly, makers of Bulletstorm and the classic Painkiller.

The first three Gears of War games tell the story of Marcus Fenix and the Delta Squad. Marcus Fenix was imprisoned for dereliction of duty, but was pardoned when the Locust attacked Jacinto and invaded the prison. Fenix was reinstated into the COG army and was assigned to Delta Squad alongside Dominic “Dom” Santiago.

The second game deals with the Locust invasion in the aftermath of the first game. Once more, we return to Delta Squad headed by Fenix. This was the first game in the series to feature the Horde mode, which soon enough became a staple in many other action games.

The third game is where Fenix and Co. finally decide to finish the war between the Humans, Locust and the newly emerged threat—the Lambent. The third game ended up being the most well-received of the trilogy, mostly because it managed to fix all the major complaints that gamers had with the previous games.

The game is set to come out exclusively for the Xbox 360 on March 19.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
