Indians can now buy from Apple's App Store in rupees

Good news for Apple users in India. Apple’s App Store is now selling paid apps in Rupees. Initially paid apps were shown only in US dollars and therefore your credit card was charged in dollars. This meant that not only were you paying the price of the app, but you were also paying a conversion fee, and at a conversion rate that differed from bank to bank. Now however, you don’t have to worry about all those extra charges on your credit card, since you’ll be charged in Rupees. The App Store changes come on the same day as Google’s Play Store will also begin accepting payments for Apps in rupees. We had earlier reported that Google had set 25 October as the deadline for developers to set their paid app prices in rupees, failing which Google would automatically assign rupee prices for the apps. At the recent Apple event, CEO Tim Cook spoke about how 200 million devices are already running iOS 6 which is the fastest upgrade for any software ever. He also spoke about how the App Store has 700,000 apps of which 275,000 are specifically built for the iPad. Customers have downloaded nearly 35 billion apps and Apple has paid out $6.5 billion to developers since the launch of the App Store, he added.
