OpenAI has rolled out a major update and access for the Indian audience “ChatGPT Go,” which previously charged about Rs 399 per month, is now completely free of cost for the Indian users. The plan will be starting from November 4, with wider options and feasibility.
The company has decided to expand its roots by playing a strategic move and igniting the Indian users which is the second largest market of GPT after America. India has become a key focus for OpenAI, with millions of students, professionals, and creators using it. By subtracting the subscription fee, the company aims to make it an advanced AI tool across the country.
According to Hindustan Times, OpenAI’s vice president and head of ChatGPT, Nick Turley said, “Ahead of our first DevDay Exchange event in India, we’re making ChatGPT Go freely available for a year to help more people across India easily access and benefit from advanced AI. We’re excited to see the amazing things our users will build, learn, and achieve with these tools."
What does ChatGPT Go offer?
ChatGPT Go is an advanced and newer version of GPT subscription which offers increased limits, clear image generation, and file uploads. It gives access to a more advanced LLM model with higher memory of the earlier chats.
The Go version is not free of cost for a year and will come in force by today. With quicker responses and higher resolution images users will be able to analyse the summarised documents.
India the second largest market of GPT
OpenAI attracted the tech-savvy population with rapidly expanding AI adoption and natural testing ground for OpenAI’s global expansion. The company hopes to see increased engagement among users enabling productivity and accountability.
In the first month of the launch of ChatGPT, the number of paid subscribers doubled in India.

OpenAI has planned a list of things that enables the users to see significant upgrades over the newer version. Users will get 10 times higher message limits, 10 times more image generations, more file uploads, and double the length of the memory.
The longer duration means more longer chats, detailed insight, smoother workflow and uninterrupted responses.
Nick Turley wrote on X, “We just launched ChatGPT Go in India, a new subscription tier that gives users in India more access to our most popular features: 10x higher message limits, 10x more image generations, 10x more file uploads, and 2x longer memory compared with our free tier. All for Rs. 399.”
