11 million North Korean need food, children are stunted due to 'chronic undernutrition', says UN report

An estimated 11 million people in North Korea — over 43 percent of the population — are undernourished and "chronic food insecurity and malnutrition is widespread", according to a UN report issued on Wednesday.

The Global Food Security Index says that the undernourished in India consume, on an average, 240 kcal below the minimum requirement, indicating that food deprivation in the country is slightly less severe than in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
