Rafale negotiations to start this month: Defence Minister Parrikar

Ahead of French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian's visit to New Delhi this week, India today said negotiations for buying 36 Rafale fighters off the shelf will commence this month and will be wrapped up in a time-bound manner.

The proposed guidelines are undergoing intense brain storming in the defence ministry with sources indicating that it may be a part of the defence procurement policy — a manual that is revised every year — or could also be stand alone.
