Elgar brought up his 14th Test hundred, and his first at his home ground, as South Africa ended the day on 256/5 after bowling India out for 245.

"Scans have revealed a left hamstring strain. He (Bavuma) will undergo daily medical evaluations to determine his participation in the match," Cricket South Africa said in a statement.
