Germany's politicians are allowing each stadium to be at 20 percent capacity for the Bundesliga's 18 clubs, providing the seven-day rate of infection of the coronavirus is lower or equal to 35 per 100,000 inhabitants in the local region.

The 36 clubs in the top two German football leagues voted on Thursday to continue the rule for next season. The decision comes after the Premier League moved back to three substitutions after using five to finish the 2019-20 campaign amid the pandemic.

Germany will start the 2020-21 season with cup games on 11 September before the Bundesliga resumes on 18 September. The winter break has been cut short to fit the season between postponed European tournaments.
