India and Bangladesh on Saturday signed seven pacts including one for setting up of joint coastal surveillance systems, improving air, rail and road connectivity and securing the International Border in what has been termed as "productive and comprehensive" talks
The much-trumpeted scheme has not met with the desired success level as more than half the routes granted in the first round of bids, auctioned in early 2017, are yet to become operational.
This is despite the domestic format of the UDAN scheme failing to yield desired results with almost half of the routes approved in the first phase of the bidding for the scheme still to be launched.

The existing scheme, known as Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN), seeks to connect unserved and under-served airports in different parts of the country
