Men’s tennis is becoming all too predictable these days, with Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz set to face each other in the final of a Grand Slam for the third consecutive time . Alcaraz had produced a sensational comeback from two sets down to defeat Sinner in the French Open final in June, while the Italian bounced back in the Wimbledon the following month, denying the Spaniard a hat-trick of titles in the grass-court Major.

Sinner and Alcaraz, ranked first and second respectively in the ATP rankings, are set to square off in the final of the US Open men’s singles competition at Flushing Meadows on Sunday. And according to a report on Marca, Sinner is the favourite to sweep both hard-court Grand Slams this year going by a prediction made by a supercomputer.

Supercomputer predicts back-to-back titles for Sinner

The report states that according to the supercomputer’s AI, Sinner has a 57.2 per cent chance of winning Sunday’s final at the Arthur Ashe Stadium compared to 42.8 per cent for Alcaraz, who had won the first of his five Grand Slams in this very competition three years ago.

Alcaraz extended Novak Djokovic’s quest for a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam that has stretched on for more than a year now by handing the 38-year-old superstar a straight sets loss .

Defending champion Sinner, on the other hand, beat Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-1 3-6 6-3 6-4 to keep his hopes of winning back-to-back titles in New York, which will be his fourth victory in the last five Grand Slams.

Alcaraz enjoys a 9-5 lead over Sinner when it comes to their head-to-head record. But it is no secret that the latter has the upper hand on hard court, having won 32 of his last 33 games on this surface.

This year’s US Open will be eighth consecutive Grand Slam won either by Sinner or Alcaraz, with Djokovic being the last player other than the current top-two to have won a Major, incidentally at this very tournament in 2023.
