Sachin Khilari wins silver for India in men’s shot put F46 at Paris Paralympics 2024

With Sachin Khilari winning silver, India’s medal count at Paralympics 2024 has now jumped to 21 and the country is now 19th in the tally.

Sachin Khilari won India’s 21st medal at the Paris Paralympics 2024 as he clinched the silver in men’s shot put F46. Khilari won silver with an Asian record of 16.32 while Canada’s Greg Stewart (16.38) took the gold with his season-best throw. Luka Bakovic of Croatia won bronze with a personal best of 16.27.

Khilari is also a two-time world championship gold medalist and also won gold at the Asian Para Games in 2023.

The F46 category in para-athletics is for athletes with moderately affected movement in one or both arms or the absence of limbs.

Apart from Sachin, Mohammed Yasser and Rohit Kumar were also part of the shot put final. Yasser and Rohit finished 8th and 9th respectively with best throws of 14.21m and 14.10m.

India’s medal count has now jumped to 21 medals and the country is now 19th in the tally. Remember this is India’s best-ever performance at the Paralympics with the previous best being 19 medals at the Tokyo Games. Sachin’s medal in men’s shot put F46 is India’s 8th silver at Paris 2024.
